Brief Project Description
The project tasks that the SRB2 money contributed towards were:
- employment of architects to design a reception building for the site; carry out the tendering procedures and then supervise construction.
- employment of Landscape Architects to prepare working drawings for tendering and supervise works on site
- employment of specialised consultants to design interpretative facilities then co-ordinate construction and installation on site.
- construction of a reception building, upgrading an existing car park and landscape improvements to the road frontage
- landscaping and enhancement of existing filter beds to create a wetland nature reserve
- landscaping and enhancement of the golf course
Project outputs included:
1. Creation of a visitor reception building with interpretation of the area and educational and community facilities.
2. New 'Gateway' entrance to the Regional Park
3. Creation of a wetland nature reserve with facilities which allow visitors to get close to wildlife
4. Improving the amenity and ecological value of the golf course and ehnacing visitor enjoyment and use
5. Landscaping of the site, including road frontage, buffer land areas and screening of adjacent negative views.
6. Creation od a new east-west footpath link across the Valley, to the site and to the adjacent Lee Valley Pathway- a regional cycle and pedestrian route.
7. Improvements to and provision of associated visitor facilities, including car parking, signage, bird viewing areas etc. unt of funding
