Turkey Brook and Mossups Creek

Brief Project Description

This project concentrated on:

  • identifying ways of improving access and environmental quality along the River Lea through its tributaries focussing on Turkey Brook and Mossup's Creek
  • assessing their potentail use as an educational resource with the provision of pilot facilities at Mossup's Creek- this builds on phase one works at Mossup's Creek funded in part through SRB2 funds in 1998/99

The project was divided into two:

  • feasibility study for Turkey Brook to develop a strategy for improving the brook in the following areas: landscape, access, amenity, boundary improvements, litter clearance, water quality, course of the brook, community and business involvement, educational resource capability. The study will also act as a fund raising document (18k)
  • assessment of Mossup's Creek as an educational resource to include: (1) creek profiling- c2k (2) soil/contamination analysis- c2k (3) flora and fauna survery- c1k (4) associated physical improvements- c6k  (5) pilot scheme working with local schools c4k  (6) supervision fees- c2k (17k)
